"The best thing is to look natural, but it takes makeup to look natural"

This shoot was a brilliant experience in working with 'Trevor Griffiths' who is an amazing photographer, and he allowed me out of the whole of the photography students at College to help him on this shoot.

The shoot was for the special effects makeup students, and we just had to capture simple head shots of their makeup techniques.
Here are some of the ones i took :

The makeup on these photos were brilliant!

"Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions"

Seen as im trying to get this upto date, Ill put some work on from the past 2 years! So some from when i first started, some from the last few months! :)

This was my first ever project at college! It was to advertising recycling so rather than doing the obvious food/cans etc, i linked in my passion of fashion!
I made the dress against a mannequin while i was bored at work one night. I used a few binliners, and newspapers. I fanned out the paper to give it this style, and attatched them all together with staples and cellotape.
This location was down an old alley, and luckily the cardboard box was already there. :)

These two are from a fashion project that i got given in the first year. Again i used the woods as its local and quiet. These are not really my strongest photos of all time, but i still think they show some diversity from my others.

The next two photos are from my first ever time shooting in the studio! :

I loved messing around with the lighting, and i also used the fan to get the windy effect of the hair!

This is from a project when i had to link up with a Performing arts student and show what her style was. She picked the outfits and i just shot the photos.

I also had to show what sort of performing arts she specialised in, which was acting. Therefore we did a shoot based on the film Moulin Rouge :

We just shot these in a dance studio, which we put a piano in! The black curtains were already on the wall, so they came in handy for the dark background, and we used various coloured spotlights.

"A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person."

3rd July - The wedding of Sarah Cockroft and Alex Szpitter :)

These are one of the lovliest couples i have ever met, so when they asked me to photograph their wedding day, how could i refuse? They loved their photos, and it gave me a great experience.

Sarah looked like a princess :)

''Were not in wonderland anymore, Alice''

My Final Major Project

''If music be the food of love, play on'' - This was the subject of our brief

So, music was our theme. I researched absolutely everything to do with music, ranging from genres, to bands, to styles, to eras... everyyything! But then, i thought outside the box.... Composers, then film composers. This is where i came up with the idea of doing a shoot based on Alice in Wonderland, as i had just seen the new film at the cinema.

LOCATION

First i did a location shoot in the middle of the woods... -  how random we looked walking through the middle of a woods with a wooden table, sheets, plates, and cakes! But the outcome looks pretty good!

STUDIO

For another shoot for my FMP i did one in the studio, with 4 members of 'Alice in Wonderland'.
I used Alice, The mad hatter, The Rabbit, and The red queen.
I arranged the outfits and makeup, and sorted out the appropriate studio lighting.

"The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live"

So, seen as im new to this, ill just give you an insight into the mind of Sophie Leigh.

Fashion + Photography = My two main biggest interests.

I have been studying photography as a subject since i was 16. And always loved fashion since i was a kid. I remember the first ever camera i got was for Christmas when i was about 8years old, a grey polaroid one. I loveeeed it! :) although i did use the whole film in about 2 hours!
So, 10 years later i came out of Alevel Photography with a C, and completed a National Diploma to a Triple Distinction.

Anyway, Ive always wanted to go to University, so when i found a course at Newport, i knew it was the course for me. Fashion Photography and Advertising ... PERFECT :D. and Helloooo unconditional! So yeah, thats me in a nutshell.
